Requirement
The client sought an alternative to MPLS VPN for a bandwidth capacity of 4 Mbps, requiring a secure, reliable, and cost-effective network solution, either wireline or wireless. Additionally, they needed to manage their IT network infrastructure to securely access business applications hosted in an on-premises data centre.
Challenge
The client encountered substantial difficulties in connecting their network to national highway offices using traditional methods such as MPLS, NLD, P2P links, or VSAT, owing to the high capital expenditure involved. This connectivity issue also obstructed the implementation of CCTV for security purposes. Establishing a primary connection was problematic, making a secondary link in these remote highway locations impossible. Furthermore, security concerns precluded the use of the internet for accessing their on-premises business applications.
Solution
Wireless SD-WAN Connectivity
Viva addressed the client’s issues by providing Wireless SD-WAN Connectivity. The solution included the following features;
- SMOAD SD-WAN Routers: Deployment of SMOAD SD-WAN routers at the highway offices, featuring in-built 4G/LTE (up to three in-built LTE) to provide a cost-effective solution. This setup allows an active/active configuration, balancing the load to maximise bandwidth utilisation and ensuring continuous access to business applications without interruption.
- Secure VPN: The SMOAD platform ensures that all data is transmitted over a highly secure and robust VPN solution using the WireGuard protocol. This improves operational efficiency and ensures key encryption, protecting sensitive data.
- Centralised Dashboard Management: The centralised dashboard management simplifies network administration and monitoring, providing real-time visibility and control over the network infrastructure. This feature eliminates the need for extensive on-site IT support, ensuring efficient and secure management of the network.
